Dwa Suparna Sayujaa Sakhaayau.....

Like Two Golden Birds Perched On The Selfsame Tree, Intimate Friends, The Ego And The Self Dwell In The Same Body. The Former Eats The Sweet And Sour Fruits Of The Tree Of Life, While The Latter Looks On In Detachment.
                                                                 -The Mundaka Upanishad

    2. You are wrong when it comes to the explanaition of this..advaita, dvaita and visistha advaita are the 3 personal opinios on veda..
Advaita states atman is parmatman..which is logically incorrect..
Jiva, prakriti and iswar are 3 se[arate/unborn entities..
veda and vedanta both confirms this, but people distract from the main source.
      thanks a lot..

  2. And the two birds are not the self and ego, but soul and supreme soul, jeevaatma and paramaatma. Don't misinterpret the vedic scriptures.

  4. PLEASE DO NOT MISINTERPRET THE VEDIC SCRIPTURE. Mundaka Upanishad never says:- "The Ego And The Self Dwell In The Same Body".
I would like to make notice for ADMIN., that Mundaka Upanishad(3rd Chapter 1st and 2nd Verse) says:-

    i) Two birds, united always and known by the same name, closely cling to the same tree. One
of them eats the sweet fruit; the other looks on without eating.
ii) Seated on the same tree, the JIVA moans, bewildered by his impotence. But when he
beholds the other(PARAMATMA), the Lord worshipped by all, and His glory, he then becomes free from
    grief.
THE ORIGINAL SOURCE OF THIS METAPHOR IS FROM RIGVEDA 1ST MANDALA 164 HYMN 20TH-21ST MANTRA.
GO AND REFER IT FROM THE SAME... U'LL UNDERSTAND THE REAL MEANING OF TWO BIRD.
